With classes moving to an online format only as of Monday, Associate Director of Campus Services Susan Miller said that “there is no longer an academic need for students to remain in residence.”

“As a result, we now expect residents to permanently move out of residence by Tuesday, March 24, 2020” by 12 p.m., Miller wrote in an email sent out to students.

Residents who are in “legitimate extenuating circumstances” that will not allow them to vacate the North and Lakeshore Campuses immediately are directed to complete paperwork to be granted an extension.

“Students who are approved for an extension should be aware that Humber may need to relocate residences to different rooms or different campuses,” Miller adds.

The residence extension request form can be filled out by visiting the residence portal.

The college previously told students that if they move out by March 24 they would receive a pro-rated refund of $827 for single rooms and $1,045 for suites on top of the unused balanced of meal plans.

Humber said on Thursday that this offer still stands.
