South Korea launched several ballistic missiles into waters off its coast early on Monday local time in a show of force following the North’s sixth nuclear test a day before.
During a military exercise, the Republic of Korea simulated a missile attack against North Korea’s nuclear test site, the northern Punggeye-ri.
Multiple ballistic missiles were fired towards targets that were placed the same distance away from the coast as Punggeye-ri is from the South Korean border.
Although present in past exercises, forces from the United States did not participate in this drill.
More details to follow.
