The Anon Journal, one of the largest Anonymous Twitter accounts, sent out a press release early Wednesday morning for planned protest events in the United States.
The statement posted at 4:01 am EST calls for activists to tear down Confederate monuments in 11 cities, including in the recently besieged Charlottesville.
“We are launching #DayToDenounce” to give everyone the opportunity to tear down symbols of hate that still stand in a country that denounces hate today,” reads the statement.
Anonymous says the nationwide event starts at 6 pm EST, or 5 pm CST.
Mobile, Little Rock, Jacksonport, Searcy, Lakeland, Atlanta, Corinth, Lynchburg, Mecklenburg, and Charlottesville are listed in the press release with specific addresses for planned events.
“It’s time to denounce the confederacy, to denounce racism, bigotry, and hate. It is time to take down these moments of hate ourselves,” reads the release.
“Overthrow terror.”
