The community centre started major renovations in April 2016 and is on time for the June 24 event.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony starts at 11 am with a free swim, live music, tours and family activities included in the celebration that ends at 4 pm.
The facility, located at 151 Victoria Rd North, was originally built in 1974. When the renovations launched last year, the City in a statement called it a “necessary investment” that updates Victoria Road to a “more inclusive and accessible community centre.”
Among the upgrades includes an upgraded 50 m pool, an “accessible teaching” pool, an overhauled entrance design, and more facility renovations.
City Council approved a $15.1 million budget in 2016 for the project, and, according to the Q1 report released on April 28, it is under-budget at 79%.
