Russian authorities have charged two former Federal Security Service officials and an employee of cyber security firm Kaspersky Lab with treason, accusing them of acting in the interests of the United States.
The three men have been identified as Ruslan Stoyanov, Sergei Mikhailov and Dmitry Dokuchayev.
Ivan Pavlov, a famed lawyer with a history of defending the rights of Russian citizens, told Reuters in a telephone interview that “My client, along with the others, has been charged with state treason and cooperating with US intelligence services “.
It is unknown at this time who exactly Pavlov is defending, but he has said it is not Stoyanov.
Dmitry Peskov, spokesperson for Russian President Vladimir Putin, said that the President was aware of the media reports.
However, the Kremlin has not yet commented.
